After purchasing our section at Motuoapa and designing our new holiday home we were then in the need for a building company to complete our dream. We selected Knight Building after meeting with Kieron & Sharon several times. They gave us the confidence to build our holiday home for us under a labour only contact.
Due to the distance from our home to Motuoapa communication was going to be the key factor to a successful build. Kieron and his team were excellent with regular updates and meetings as well as working very closely with our suppliers and sub contractors.
Kieron was very quick to notice and see that perhaps there could be an improvement on the plan or an adjustment to improve the outcome of the build. Their workmanship was excellent, professional and they also went the extra step to ensure our dream holiday home was what we wanted.
This was our first new home that we have built and we had our reservations that we could manage a labour only contract especially with the distance from home, but Kieron, Sharon and the team made it possible and easy for us.

We engaged Kieron Knight Building to build our holiday home in Motuoapa. This came about after a discussion over our original plans to which Kieron indicated a "Can Do" attitude.
Both Kieron & Sharon were patient while we reworked our house plans and provided guidance, assistance to us in selecting cladding & roofing materials with both costs and aesthetics' in mind. They provided an experienced sounding board for us to bounce our ideas off.
They "got" a large number of the concepts we were trying to incorporate into the property and during the build presented options where the architect had not provided full details. In one case we arrived on site to find the Architect had placed the steelwork too low and that point the steelwork was already in place. However Kieron indicated that this could be fixed with a bit of work. We thought about on our journey home and abouthalf way had decided that it needed to be fixed. On our next visit after advising Kieron the steelwork was at the right height. What I now know is that Kieron had spent a sleepless night working out how he was going to lift the not insubstantial steelwork up the 700mm needed to achieve the look we were after.
There were a number of robust discussions over aspects of the build but they respected decisions by us where they didn't necessarily agree with what we had asked. During the finishing phase they also assisted us with accommodation while we completed the interior painting and detailing.
During the course of the project the relationship between Builder and Client became to be more one of friends.
The "Can Do" attitude was demonstrated on numerous occasionsduring the building process and we would certainly use Kieron Knight Building again should circumstances permit and recommend their competent and pragmatic approach to the build process and their friendly and approachable manner towards us as customers.
